The ÖAMTC

The ÖAMTC (Austrian Automobile, Motorcycle, and Touring Club) is the largest mobility club in Austria, primarily known for roadside assistance, medical aid abroad, and vehicle technical checks. However, it also supports its members in areas such as road safety, travel planning, legal advice, and vehicle technology. The club also represents its members' interests on mobility and transportation issues.

How it works

The Challenge

ÖAMTC wanted to gather reliable, representative insights on the opinions of its members, particularly regarding current and future topics such as road safety, mobility change, and traffic psychology. The organization needed a continuous flow of reliable member feedback.

However, encouraging members to participate in a general opinion survey (without direct customer experience) is not straightforward. Particularly when it comes to complex, forward-looking topics such as electric mobility or traffic policy, it is challenging to engage people for the long term and with meaningful input.

The second challenge was the quality of the data. The questions had to be clear and to the point so responses would be complete, accurate, and actionable. and so that participants would actually complete the survey.

What we did:

  • Member engagement: Member engagement: Increased survey participation

  • Smart survey design: Complex topics made clear

  • Data quality: Reliable answers with fewer errors

  • Products: Survalyzer Expert, Community Extension

Good data starts with good design

The ÖAMTC wanted to ensure that complex topics were presented in an understandable way for participants, in order to receive honest and reliable answers. To make surveys both easy to understand and methodologically sound user-friendly, ÖAMTC asked itself a series of “How” questions, which were key to successful survey design.

How can we increase participation in surveys on complex topics such as e-mobility and road safety?

How can we design the survey to be engaging and easy to understand, while addressing complex topics in a concise and meaningful way, in order to obtain complete and honest answers and avoid dropouts?

How do we select the appropriate question types to collect valuable and reliable data, while reducing response bias in the responses?

How we did it

The Results

The success of every survey depends on meaningful participation and reliable data. In answering the questions mentioned above, ÖAMTC was able to successfully overcome each of these challenges with the help of Survalyzer.

The result was the continued success of AM.PULS – a project that has been collecting valuable data from ÖAMTC members for 10 years.

Let’s take a closer look at the results.

Challenging topics like e-mobility, commuter tax benefits, climate initiatives, and self-driving vehicles require extra engagement.

ÖAMTC boosts participation with targeted giveaways, including iPhones, iPads, and a Vespa. Survalyzer's Community Extension makes it easy to manage these incentive campaigns and increase response rates.
